Frequently Asked Questions

We know that choosing your wedding gown is one of the most exciting (and maybe a little bit nerve-wracking) decisions you will ever make and we want you to feel completely supported from your very first click. Think of this as a little peek into how we do things: from prepping for your appointment and how we curate our showroom rails to celebrating your big "Yes" moment and the logistics of the journey that follows.

Our aim is to give you total peace of mind so you can focus entirely on the fun of finding "the one": we can't wait to help you find the dress of your dreams!

Chapter 1: The First Impression - Is Along Came Eve the right match for me?

To schedule your visit, please head to the ‘Book an Appointment’ tab on our website. It is the quickest way to see our live availability.
If you find yourself with a quick question before you book, we would love to hear from you via WhatsApp or you can DM us on Instagram. If you prefer to speak to one of our friendly team members directly, please give us a call on (01244) 310 700 .

We charge a £20 fee for your first visit. This fee covers your exclusive time in the boutique, including the one on one dedicated expertise of our team and refreshments! Of course, we understand that diary conflicts can happen, so your appointment fee is refundable on any cancellations made with a minimum of 48 hours' notice.

To ensure every bride enjoys a peaceful sanctuary, we operate by appointment only. This allows us to provide the dedicated guidance of a stylist as you navigate our showroom collections together, before heading to your own private fitting suite to see your vision come to life. To get a head start on your search, you can explore our entire in-store collection right here on our website: we keep our digital showroom as up to date as possible so you can see exactly what is currently hanging on our rails!

If you would like to browse the collection in person before committing to an appointment, we would love to welcome you to one of our quarterly 'Sip and See' evenings. These are relaxed, open-house events where you can explore the rails with a glass of fizz and meet our team. While we don't offer try-ons during these evenings, they are a wonderful way to break the ice if you are feeling a little nervous (or if you simply want to see the beauty of the fabrics up close) before booking your dedicated time in the diary. Keep an eye on our social media for our next date!

Our home is a stunning three storey listed building on the historic Rows of Chester. While we love the character of our building, its heritage nature means that our showroom and private fitting suites are located on the upper floors, accessed by several flights of quite narrow, curved stairs.

We never want a bride or her guests to feel excluded due to these architectural limits, so we have created several ways to ensure you can still experience the magic of our collections comfortably.

Our sister store, The One Bridal Outlet, is just a two minute stroll away and is located entirely on one level. With prior notice, we can host your appointment in this space. While the environment is slightly more relaxed than our main boutique, it allows us to provide you with a comfortable, accessible fitting experience.

Because we want you to see the gowns you’ve been dreaming of, we can carefully curate a small selection of Along Came Eve dresses to bring over to the Outlet for you to try. As we have to transport these by hand, we are limited to a few specific gowns, so a chat with your stylist ahead of time is essential to make sure we bring your absolute favourites!

If you are able to access the row level of our main boutique, we can offer a shorter initial consultation where you can be hands on with the gowns and see the fabrics in person before we look at booking a space at our Outlet store.

Alternatively, we love our virtual consultations! We can hop on a video call to show you exactly how a gown flows, zoom in on the intricate beadwork, and answer your technical questions while "browsing" the rails together remotely.

If you or any of your guests have accessibility needs, please do reach out to us as early as possible. We would love to chat with you personally to find the very best way to support you and make your journey as seamless as possible.

Our main luxury collection ranges from £1300 to £4000, with the majority of our gowns sitting between £1800 and £3000. We also offer a curated 'Little White Dress' and second look collection, which ranges from around £450 to £1000.

If your heart is set on a luxury designer gown but you are working with a budget of under £1500, we recommend visiting our sister store, The One Bridal Outlet. Also located in Chester, it is a wonderful space for the savvy or eco conscious bride to find a designer look at a more accessible price point.

Our showroom samples currently range from a UK 6 to a UK 24. We typically hold one sample of each gown and we strategically choose the size of that sample to either fill a gap in our collection or to best showcase that specific gown's construction and silhouette. All of our sample sizes are available to view on our dress listings, and if you wish to, you can filter by sample size too.

When you find a style you love, our stylists use professional fit and styling techniques to help you envision how the gown will look when it is ordered in your size. While you will be trying on a sample, most of our designs can be ordered in sizes UK 2 to UK 36, depending on the specific designer.

Stylist’s Tip: It is helpful to know that bridal sizing is a world of its own and often differs significantly from the high street. Our designers come from all over the globe, and each uses their own unique garment patterns and size charts. Sizing can vary between designers, styles, and fabric types. Some designers typically use a straighter cut which can feel smaller, while others allow more room for curves, feeling more generous than your usual size.

Unlike our everyday wardrobes which often have a bit of stretch, a wedding gown is a beautiful piece of structured couture. Whether the number on the tag is higher or lower than you expect, please try not to let it worry you! We select your size together with you, based on technical measurements, to ensure the best foundation for your seamstress to tailor to your exact proportions later. If you have any questions at all about sizing, please do reach out. We are here to put your mind at ease and ensure you feel confident and beautiful throughout your entire journey.

Every sample you see in our boutique is a carefully chosen investment we have made to ensure our rails are filled with as much variety as possible. Because we want to offer you unique and exciting designs to explore, we prioritize having many different styles rather than multiple sizes or colours of the same dress, although occasionally we will have two samples of one really amazing gown.

We are also mindful of the space in our beautiful historic home. If we were to stock just one of our Enzoani gowns in every available size and colour variation, it would take up over a quarter of our showroom! Wow!

At Along Came Eve, our heart and soul are dedicated entirely to you, the bride! To ensure we provide the most curated and luxurious experience for your search, we don’t stock collections for the wider wedding party or bridal shoes: this allows us to focus our full expertise (and our showroom space) on finding and styling your perfect gown.

To help you tick off the rest of your list, here are our top recommendations for where to find those finishing touches:

For the Wedding Party: Shopping hubs like Cheshire Oaks or The Trafford Centre offer fantastic variety for everyone. If your bridesmaids live further afield, many of our brides find that online brands provide the most flexibility for trying on at home. For a sophisticated Mother of the Bride look, the TFG flagship in Liverpool (home to brands like Phase Eight, Hobbs, and Whistles) is a must-visit, alongside the many wonderful independent boutiques that specialise in occasion wear.

For the Shoes: If you are looking for that "signature" bridal feel, we love Charlotte Mills (look out for the silver sixpence!) or Rainbow Club for traditional comfort. For the designer-led bride, Flannels in the city centre is a great stop, while ASOS online remains a firm favourite with our brides (especially the Be Mine brand) for their stylish variety, wide-fit options and great value.

Absolutely! We love helping you find those all-important finishing touches to complete your vision. Whether you are an official ACE bride or you have found your gown elsewhere, you are so welcome to book a dedicated Styling Session with one of our experts. Our boutique is a treasure trove of accessorising delights, featuring a curated collection of veils (from minimalist tulle to dramatic cathedral-length lace), bespoke hairpieces, and hand-picked jewellery. Because our suites are private and our collection is spread throughout the boutique, booking an appointment ensures you have a dedicated stylist to curate the perfect selection just for you.

If you have found your gown elsewhere, we would love to help you style it! Please keep in mind that for insurance and liability reasons, we are unable to have external dresses tried on within our boutique. However, you are more than welcome to try on our veils and jewellery while wearing your own clothes, or we can provide one of our simple showroom gowns to help you see the full effect!

If you would prefer a more informal browsing experience, we also host regular "Sip and See" open evenings: these are a wonderful way to explore our collections with a glass of fizz and purchase your favourite pieces on the night.

While our showroom floor holds over 150 gowns, we simply cannot stock every single style from every collection! If there is a specific gown you are dreaming of, we can often request a loan sample from the designer for you to experience. This service is £50 per dress (and limited to a maximum of two gowns) and is subject to availability.

It is helpful to know that designers usually hold only one or two samples per style (typically in a UK 6/8 or 14) so we are not always able to request a specific size or colourway. A loan is designed to let you experience the silhouette, fabrication, and design details in person, even if the fit isn't exactly as you would ultimately order.

Stylist’s Tip: Before exploring a loan, we recommend having a 'baseline' experience of how different bridal silhouettes and fabrics feel on your body. Whether you have already tried some wedding gowns elsewhere or you begin by visiting our in-store edit first, it is always best to ensure you love the 'feel' of a particular shape before investing your time and cost into a specific loan request. Designers often rework their signature laces and silhouettes across their ranges, so we may already have something wonderfully similar for you to experience in person!

Chapter 2: The Countdown - Preparing for your visit

Preparation starts with the "when and where," as your setting often sets the scene for your entire bridal vision. Whether you are dreaming of a refined manor house affair or a relaxed destination wedding, knowing your venue helps us curate a selection that feels perfectly at home in surroundings. It is also the key to your timeline: knowing your date allows us to guide you toward gowns that can be ready for your big day, including our rush-order or outlet options for those on a shorter journey.

Have a think about your vision for the day: do you want a dress that transitions seamlessly from ceremony to dancefloor, and is comfort just as important to you as the "look"? (The secret is, with our designers, you can usually have both!) We love it when you share your Pinterest or Instagram mood boards with us beforehand too, so we can start curating your selection before you even arrive.

It is also helpful to have an honest conversation about your budget beforehand, remembering to factor in those extras like accessories and alterations. If a loved one is gifting you your gown, having this chat early ensures the appointment remains purely celebratory and free from any unexpected surprises.

Finally, keep an open heart for a "Yes" moment! Many of our brides find their dream gown at their very first appointment: if you find a dress that makes you feel incredible, trust that spark. Finding your gown early isn't "cheating" the experience, it just means you can tick the biggest job off your list and get back to the fun of planning the rest of your day!

Stylist’s Tip: To avoid "appointment fatigue," we recommend being very selective with the boutiques you visit. By choosing one or two showrooms that truly align with your vision (or trusting us for your entire bridal journey!) you ensure your energy and excitement remain high. We take pride in our diverse collection and our stylists’ ability to interpret your vision: you may find that our curated showroom has everything you need to find "the one"without the burnout of a busy shopping schedule.

We recommend wearing nude, seamless underwear to create the smoothest possible foundation: a lot of our gowns are designed to support up to an F cup, so a bra is rarely needed, though nipple covers are a fab way to feel more comfortable if you are a little nervous. Your stylist will be in the fitting room with you to help navigate the layers and ensure you are perfectly clipped into each dress, as this protects the delicate samples and helps you see the true silhouette. If you have any specific coverage or support needs, please reach out to chat to us beforehand so we can guide you toward the best silhouettes and customisation options for you.

To help you see the "full vision" and feel your most confident, we suggest arriving with your hair and makeup done similar to how you might wear it on your wedding day. If you are wearing fake tan, we kindly ask that you apply it a few nights before your visit so your glow is beautifully settled and safely transfer-free by the time you meet our gowns.

You don’t need to worry about shoes unless you have already found your wedding pair, as our podium allows you to see how the gown will fall at the correct height, even if you are barefoot. All you truly need to bring is an open mind, your most trusted people, and the means to officially secure your gown once you have had that magical "Yes" moment!

At Along Came Eve, we offer the luxury of private fitting suites which comfortably accommodate up to four guests for our appointments. Our beautiful boutique is situated in a historic listed building that was once a grand house, so we are naturally cosy and a little restricted by the size of the rooms. We want you to have the most comfortable and luxurious experience, and things can get a little squishy with a large "cheer squad!"

To make sure everyone can still be a part of your journey, we provide guest Wi-Fi so you can video call any special individuals who couldn't be there in person. This is a wonderful way to involve everyone without losing the calm, intimate atmosphere of your private suite.

Stylist’s Tip: While it is tempting to bring everyone you love, we often find that a smaller, trusted group helps your own voice stay the loudest. Bringing one to three of your most supportive people ensures the focus remains entirely on how you feel in the dress, rather than a chorus of different opinions, and make sure you share your inspiration with them first, so they can align with your bridal vision!

We are a family-friendly boutique, but our priority is always your safety and your experience. While we do allow children, please keep in mind that they count toward our maximum guest limit of four. Because our boutique is situated in a historic building with steep stairs (and because we are a working studio with plenty of sharp pins!), we ask that a dedicated adult is on hand to supervise them at all times to keep them safe and out of mischief.

It is also worth considering the "magic" of the moment. Bridal appointments are 90 minutes long and can feel like an eternity for little ones: we often find that children can get a little restless, which can be a distraction when you are trying to make such a big decision. To ensure the focus remains entirely on you, many of our brides find that arranging childcare allows them to truly relax and soak in the experience of being a bride to be!

We have a range of refreshments available for you, including hot and cold drinks. Your dedicated Stylist will take care of your needs when showing you to your private fitting suite. If you feel you might need a little extra energy boost or a snack, you are more than welcome to bring something small along, we just kindly ask that you are mindful of the boutique environment and our gowns.

Chapter 3: The ACE Experience - What to expect on the day

Your experience begins with a warm welcome and an expert consultation: this is our time to really dive into your wedding vision. We’ll chat about your wishlist, your venue, and those "must-have" details to ensure our expertise meets your ideas and we find a gown that ticks every box.

We’ll then take a walk through our expansive (and very sparkly!) first-floor showroom. With over 150 gowns to explore, we’ll pull out styles we think are a dream match while giving you the knowledge to explore the rails yourself. Each dress features a handy tag with model photos, pricing, and key details: putting all the information you need right at your fingertips. We then love to give you 5 to 10 minutes of no-pressure browsing time to see if a "wildcard" jumps out at you while we get your fitting suite and drinks ready.

Once you've had a browse, we’ll work together to select those first four or five gowns to start with. Please don't worry if you’ve had a change of heart now that you’ve seen a dress "in the silk" versus online, and please know we won’t be offended if you don’t love our initial suggestions! We just ask that you keep an open mind: some gowns look truly incredible on the body compared to the hanger. If you've fallen in love with half the showroom, we’ll help you curate the perfect starting edit to keep your journey fun, exciting, and focused.

Your stylist will then lead you upstairs to one of our private fitting suites: this space is your safe haven. With the support of your stylist, you can tune out the rest of the world and focus entirely on how each gown makes you feel. Here, we'll help you into each dress using professional tools to help you envision how it will sculpt to your unique silhouette. If "the one" hasn't revealed itself in that first batch, fear not! Your stylist will handpick further options based on your feedback (using her intimate knowledge of our full collections) to make the journey to saying "YES" as effortless as possible.

Stylist’s Tip: To keep our boutique a peaceful sanctuary for every bride, we operate a locked-door policy during our one-on-one appointments. We kindly ask that you arrive right at your scheduled time rather than early: as our team will be busy making magic with another guest, we are usually unable to open the door before your start time. Arriving on the dot ensures your stylist is ready and waiting to welcome you with her full, undivided attention

To ensure a beautifully relaxed experience, we have carefully timed our appointments to include everything from your initial consultation to the final celebration. Your time with us includes:

The Classic Experience (90 minutes): This is your first-time visit to Along Came Eve! We find 90 minutes is the perfect "sweet spot" to dive into your vision, explore our showroom, and find the gown you’ll say "Yes" to (without ever feeling rushed).

Little White Dress Appointment (60 minutes): A session focused purely on our curated selection of minis and second looks. Because these gowns are often lighter and quicker to change into, 60 minutes provides plenty of time for fun, fizz, and finding your party silhouette!

Retry Appointments (60 minutes): While many of our brides find "the one" during their first visit, we offer this focused session for those who need to see their top two favourites one last time before making it official.

Styling Sessions & Gown Reveals (45 minutes): As you have already found the dress of your dreams, we spend a focused 45 minutes together dedicated purely to the exciting moment you see your own made-to-order gown for the first time, or curating your final look with finishing touches.

While we want to soak in every second of your journey, we do ask that you are mindful of the clock: as we are often fully booked, we need to ensure the boutique is a ready-and-waiting sanctuary for the next bride’s appointment.

Our Boutique is on the 'row level' of Watergate Street in Chester City Centre. Just take the stairs nearest to Palm and turn left, we are right next door to Liquor & Co.

The nearest car parks are Linenhall Street, Delamere Street, The New Market, and Chester Racecourse. We recommend allowing a little extra time to get into the city centre as Chester can get quite busy! Chester also has a fantastic public transport system, with the railway station 15-20 minutes walk away and three park and ride services around the main arterial routes into the city.

We know that life (and traffic!) can sometimes be a whirlwind: if you find yourself running behind, please don't stress! The best thing to do is send us a quick WhatsApp or give us a call as soon as you can so we can look at the diary together.

If you are running a few minutes behind: Please don't worry! We will be here ready and waiting for you. To protect the journey of our next guest, your appointment will still need to end at the scheduled time, but we will make every minute count.

If you are more than 15 minutes late: This naturally limits our time to browse the rails and try on gowns: we may need to create a more "focused edit" of gowns to ensure you still get plenty of time in the fitting suite.

If you are over 30 minutes late: In this instance, we will usually need to reschedule your visit. We want you to have the full, magical ACE experience rather than a rushed version that doesn't do your vision justice! However, we will always have a conversation with you first: if our diary has a later opening or we can shift things around to see you, we will certainly do our best to make it work.

Our Promise to You: While we strive for perfect timing, sometimes schedules in the busy world of bridal can shift outside of our control. If we happen to be running slightly behind, please rest assured that we will never cut your appointment short: you will always receive the full, dedicated 45, 60, or 90-minute slot you have booked!

Stylist’s Tip: If you happen to arrive in the city early, we recommend heading to one of our lovely neighbouring coffee shops on Watergate Street for a pre-appointment treat! You are always welcome to WhatsApp us to see if we can see you sooner: while we are rarely able to open our doors before your scheduled start time (as we are usually busy making magic with another bride), we would love to get your journey started early if our diary allows!

Chapter 4: Making it Official - The journey to your Yes moment

The "sweet spot" for selecting your gown is between 12 and 18 months before your wedding. This timeline ensures a beautifully relaxed journey, providing ample time for your dress to be crafted by our international designers, shipped to the boutique, and perfectly tailored by your chosen seamstress.

Ideally, we recommend placing your order at least 10 months ahead. If your wedding is sooner than this, please do not worry! We have several ways to support a shorter timeline, some designers offer a "Rush Order" or may have a live global inventory for gowns already in production. For those on a very tight timeline, our sister store, The One Bridal Outlet, is a fantastic destination for finding a luxury "ready to wear" gown that can go home with you the very same day.

Stylist’s tip: While it can be tempting to wait, most international designers take between 4 and 10 months to create your gown. When you factor in a couple of weeks shipping, the 8 to 16 weeks typically required for your final fittings and alterations, you can see why that 12 to 18-month window feels so much more serene. Starting early means you can enjoy the "styling" phase of your journey without having to watch the clock!

We are so excited for your bridal journey to start! While we love an organised bride, we generally recommend booking your private appointment once you are emotionally and practically ready to say "yes" to your dress. Because the bridal world moves at a fast pace, shopping before you are ready to commit can sometimes lead to a little heartbreak.

Designers can discontinue styles with very short notice and prices can occasionally rise between seasons. There is also the chance we may sell our showroom sample; this means if you fall in love with a gown but aren't ready to secure it, you run the risk of that dress being retired or the sample no longer being available for you to try on again later to reconfirm your choice.

We also know that "New Collection FOMO" is a real feeling! It can be tempting to wait for the next season’s launch once you’ve started the search, but we often find this can lead to over-thinking and choice paralysis. If a gown makes you feel incredible today, it is because it aligns with your vision and your aesthetic right now. Trusting that feeling prevents you from getting stuck in a cycle of waiting for something "even better" that may never arrive.

Stylist’s Tip: We find the most magical, stress free appointments happen when a bride is ready to trust her instinct. If you are still in the very early "browsing" phase and aren't quite ready to choose, we would love to welcome you to one of our 'Sip and See' evenings instead! It’s a wonderful way to see the gowns and meet the team without the pressure of the timeline.

Bridal fashion moves slightly differently than the high street. Most of our designers launch new collections either once or twice a year, typically around March and September. We usually see these pieces first at bridal fashion weeks, with the gowns beginning to arrive on our rails three to four months later.

Rather than arriving all at once, new gowns tend to join our collection in a steady stream throughout the year. This means there is always a sense of "newness" to discover whenever you visit! Because our main collection is a curated, timeless edit, we don't swap our entire showroom every season, we often keep iconic, best-selling pieces on our floor for several years.

It is also helpful to know that wedding dresses don’t strictly follow the seasons in the way everyday fashion does. You will find floaty silhouettes and long sleeves available year-round; it is all about your personal preference and the vibe of your wedding day rather than the month on the calendar.

Stylist’s Tip: While we love a trend, we always select our gowns based on their design, quality, and how they make our brides feel. Trends in bridal tend to evolve slowly rather than changing overnight. If you find a dress that makes you feel like the best version of yourself, it doesn't matter if it was designed this year or three years ago, if it’s "The One" it will always be in style.

Finding "the one" is a moment you will never forget, and we make sure the experience is just as magical as the gown itself. Once you have made your choice, your stylist will take your measurements and guide you through selecting the most suitable size. We will then walk you through our terms and conditions before finalising your order and taking payment: this is the exciting moment where your dream gown is officially secured!

Then, it is time for the confetti! We head down to reception for our signature "Yes" moment, where we celebrate your find with our famous confetti cannon and a few happy cheers. We love capturing this magic for you, whether that is a celebratory photo on your phone, a quick Polaroid for your memory box, or a little video clip for one of our "Yes" reels for our socials. It is the perfect way to mark the start of your journey as an official ACE bride.

Choosing your wedding gown is a huge moment (it is likely the most expressive piece of clothing you will ever wear) and we want you to feel 100% confident. Sometimes "the feeling" settles in once you have stepped away for a quick coffee round the corner or a good night’s sleep.

If you find your "Yes" away from the boutique, you don't necessarily need to come back in to see us right away, popping us a message on WhatsApp or email is often the quickest way to get the ball rolling. We can handle your order and terms remotely, letting you know the next steps and if we need to book you in for a quick measurement appointment. And obviously, we will make a very important note to fire off the confetti cannon and take your "Yes" photos the next time you visit the store!

If you feel you need to step back into the gowns to be certain, we offer one complimentary 60-minute Retry Appointment. This is a focused session designed for your top two favourites (and perhaps a "wildcard" pick from your stylist if something new has arrived that fits your vision).

If you find you have had a complete change of direction or want to start your search from scratch, we recommend booking another Classic Appointment. This ensures you have the full 90 minutes and our undivided attention to explore the rails again. Just make sure to pop us a message, so we can bring your details up from your last visit.

Stylist’s Tip: Keep in mind that the bridal world moves quickly: designers can discontinue styles or raise prices with very little notice, and showroom samples can be sold at any time. Trusting your instinct when the feeling is fresh is the best way to ensure your dream dress doesn't slip away!

Chapter 5: The Road to the Aisle - Payments, fittings & logistics

Most of our brides choose to pay for their gown and accessories in full at the time of ordering to keep their journey simple.

We understand that a wedding gown is a significant investment, so if you would prefer to spread the cost, we offer a straightforward payment plan. This requires a 50% deposit at the time of purchase, with the remaining balance settled within 16 weeks of your initial payment. Please note that if your wedding date is less than 16 weeks away, or if your designer has a shorter lead time, we will require the full balance to be settled at the time of ordering or immediately upon their arrival. If your wedding is over 10 months away and you have specific questions about a payment timeline, please chat with your stylist as we may be able to offer a longer payment plan if agreed at time of order.

For those finding their dream dress in our sample collection or at our sister boutique, payment is required in full on the day. This allows you to take your gown home with you immediately, securing your find right away.

We accept all major debit and credit cards (including American Express, get those airmiles!), as well as cash or bank transfers.

We believe deeply in the integrity of our collections and the artistry of our designers. As our international partners set recommended retail prices (RRPs) to reflect the technical skill and luxury materials within each gown, we do not typically offer discounts on our made-to-order showroom collection. This approach ensures the value of every ACE bride’s investment is protected and consistent.

For the bride who loves the thrill of a find, our sister boutique, The One, serves as our permanent home for ex-sample gowns. While we may occasionally host dedicated sample sale events here at Along Came Eve to make room for new magic on our rails, the Outlet is your best year round destination for luxury value. We always announce any upcoming in-house sale events on our Instagram and Facebook pages first, so do make sure you are following us there!

Standard production times for our designers are usually between 4 and 12 months. Please don't panic if it goes a little quiet at our end during this time: rest assured your dress is busy in production and we are closely coordinating with the designer to ensure everything is on track for your wedding date. We generally aim to have your gown shipped to our boutique around two months before your big day, which is the perfect window to begin your fittings. We try to coordinate this arrival specifically so your dress doesn't spend too long in storage (saving you the worry of keeping a white gown pristine at home for months on end!).

To help us manage this timing perfectly, we simply ask that you let us know as soon as you have booked your first seamstress appointment. If your gown happens to arrive earlier than expected, we will liaise with you directly to discuss the best timing for your Gown Reveal.

A Gown Reveal is a special appointment, reserved only for our Along Came Eve brides, it is a beautiful moment where you get to see and try on your actual made-to-order gown for the very first time! It is also the perfect opportunity to re-style your look with accessories to see the full vision. While this isn't a fitting (you should not expect a perfect fit just yet), your stylist will be on hand to advise on the basic alterations your seamstress will likely carry out. Once the reveal is complete, you will then take your gown home with you or directly to your chosen seamstress to begin your official fittings.

Bodies are beautifully changeable, and we want you to feel confident and supported throughout your entire journey. Whether you are on a wellness journey, navigating pregnancy/post-partum, recovering from illness, have a planned surgery or taking any medication that may affect your measurements, please be as transparent as possible with your stylist at the time of ordering. This honesty allows us to guide you toward the most suitable size choice and ensures a successful outcome during your final fittings.

Although we haven’t quite found a crystal ball that lets us see into the future (as much as we wish we were fortune tellers!), what we can offer is years of technical expertise and deep bridal knowledge. While we can't predict exactly how an individual silhouette will shift, we base our advice on what we know works best for your gown and its construction. Our goal is always 100% aligned with yours: we want you to have the most beautiful, serene outcome possible.

While wedding gowns are designed to be beautifully tailored, it is helpful to understand the structural limits of the garments. As a general rule, most gowns can be successfully taken in by up to two dress sizes (approximately four inches). However, easing a dress out is much more restricted, often limited to around one inch depending on the specific seam allowance of the design.

Stylist’s tip: If you anticipate a significant change in your body shape, please don't feel you have to navigate it alone. We will work with you to choose the size that offers the most flexibility for your specific goals, ensuring the best possible foundation for your seamstress to work with. It is a great idea to sync with your chosen specialist from your very first contact: as fittings usually begin 8 to 16 weeks before your wedding (and alterations are always carried out based on your body at the time of your fittings), they may suggest a later start to ensure your gown is tailored to your final silhouette (and to avoid the need for the same work to be done and paid for twice!).

With a background in technical garment fit and fashion, we are naturally meticulous about the construction and silhouette of our gowns. When you find your dress, we will take professional measurements and guide you through the designer’s specific size charts. We choose the size of your wedding dress together: this ensures that you are in control, comfortable with the decision and have the best possible foundation for your fitting journey.

It is helpful to remember that needing alterations is a normal (and usually essential) part of the process. They aren't a sign that anything has gone "wrong" with the fit or sizing; they are the final step in crafting a gown that is truly yours. While your gown is created to your closest size, the final magic happens when it is tailored to your unique contours to achieve that effortless, second-skin feeling.

Once you have said "Yes" to your dress, we provide you with a link to our curated Alterations Info Hub, which explains exactly how the process works and includes a list of independent, local seamstresses who are highly experienced in the details of our designer collections.

We find the most relaxed journeys happen when you plan ahead: most seamstresses will want to see you for your first fitting between 8 and 16 weeks before your wedding date. As alterations are a separate, specialist service, we recommend factoring a dedicated budget into your overall bridal plans.

Stylist’s tip: It is really helpful to keep your alterations in mind when you’re setting your bridal budget! These are always an extra, separate cost and are never included in the price of your dress. Because our recommended seamstresses are independent specialists, you’ll pay them directly for their time and craft. For a standard fit, we suggest setting aside between £200 and £600. This fee is based on the artisan hours needed to achieve that flawless fit: a simple bustle or strap lift will be at the lower end, while a 'full fit' (like shortening a beautiful lace hem or fully contouring a bodice) takes more time. Your specialist will give you their own quote once they’ve seen the gown on you!

For all standard alterations, we primarily refer our brides to our Recommended Seamstresses via our recently launched Alterations Info Hub. This curated directory connects you directly with independent, local specialists who manage their own professional studios and fitting diaries. We suggest reaching out to these experts as soon as you have said "Yes" to ensure you are matched with a professional who has the dedicated availability and technical skill your gorgeous wedding gown deserves.

We maintain a small internal studio which is primarily dedicated to the care of our showroom collection. This space allows us to maintain our samples to the highest standards and create bespoke styling tools (such as the sleeves, straps or bows you may see in-store) to help you envision your finished look. While this is an active production space, we do hold a very small portion of the diary in reserve to act as a logistical safeguard for our brides. This resource is specifically reserved as a failsafe for critical situations, such as a compressed wedding date or unique circumstances where a bride may require additional support to meet her wedding deadline.

Because this studio serves as a vital contingency resource, its capacity is strictly managed by our team based on logistical necessity: our priority is ensuring every bride has a dedicated professional to manage her fitting journey. If your journey allows for a standard fitting timeline, we will always guide you toward our recommended independent specialists to ensure you are matched with a professional who has the dedicated availability to focus on your fitting journey from start to finish.

Chapter 6: “The What Ifs”

First of all: breathe! What you are feeling is incredibly common and honestly? It usually comes down to "Pinterest overload" or a late-night scrolling session on socials! It is perfectly normal to have a little wobble after making such a significant decision, and we are right here to help you navigate these feelings.

If you are feeling uncertain, the very best thing you can do is reach out to us and book a time to come back into the boutique. Often, just putting your gown back on and seeing yourself in the mirror again is enough to recreate that original magic and remind you of exactly why you said "Yes" in the first place!

While we will do everything we can to settle your nerves, it is important to remember that once your deposit is paid and the designer order is placed (or your sample gown is secured), the sale is final. This means we aren't able to offer a refund, exchange, or cancellation. But please don't worry! We find that 99% of "dress stress" disappears the moment we style your gown with a veil and those perfect accessories to show you the full, finished vision again. We are on this journey with you, and we’ll work together to address any of your concerns to ensure you feel like the most confident, beautiful version of yourself on your wedding day.

Life can be unpredictable, and we always aim to be as supportive as possible if your plans shift. In the first instance, please always email us at info@alongcameeve.com.

If your wedding date is brought forward: Please contact us immediately! While we cannot usually speed up a gown already in production, we will explore every possible avenue with the designer. If your original gown cannot arrive in time, we would love to help you find a beautiful alternative. Because each gown is made specifically for you, any new choice would be an additional purchase: we would then provide you with all the details and imagery you need to sell your original gown privately.

If your wedding is delayed/postponed: Please don't worry! Just let us know when you can, we are often able to defer your gown’s shipment or store it here in the boutique until your original wear date. After that, we’ll simply have a chat about collection or our long-term storage options to keep your dress safe and sound.

If your wedding is cancelled: We are sincerely sorry if you find yourself in this position, and we truly want to support you through the logistics. In this event, the contract for the gown remains with the bride: any remaining balance will still need to be settled and the dress collected on or before the original wear date. While we aren't able to buy back gowns, offer a refund or an in-house resale service, we will do everything we can to help you move the gown on privately. We can provide you with designer imagery and sizing details to help you create a listing for sites like Still White, eBay or Vinted. Alternatively, specialist re-sale boutiques like Bridal Reloved or Islington Bridal often take gowns on a commission basis if you would prefer a 'hands-off' approach, though selling privately usually allows you to recoup more of your investment.

We have tried to answer our most common queries as in-depth as possible, but we know that every bridal journey is unique. If you find you still have a question that hasn't been covered here, please do reach out to us via email, WhatsApp, or Instagram DM: we are always happy to help you feel completely at ease before you step through our doors!
